BATAVIA — Oakfield-Alabama/Elba had the chance to finish its regular season undefeated on Saturday against rival Notre Dame at Van Detta Stadium and the Aggies did so in the same dominating fashion that they have shown all season long.
Bodie Hyde had an outstanding day on both sides of the ball, Noah Currier ran wild again and the OAE defense was outstanding as the Aggies rolled to a 48-0 win over the Fighting Irish.
Hyde finished the day with 10 carries for 135 yards and three TDs, while he was also 6-of-8 through the air for 144 yards and another score; on defense Hyde added five tackles, including two for a loss.
Meanwhile, Currier added 154 yards rushing and three touchdowns on just 12 carries, while Kyle Porter had three catches for 73 yards and a TD and Connor Scott finished with three carries for 46 yards. Porter also had two interceptions (including one on Notre Dame’s first play from scrimmage) and Scott added four tackles, with one coming for a loss.
Junior Angelo Penna was a force for the OAE defense with five tackles (four for a loss) and two sacks, while Austin Pangrazio had two tackles for a loss and two sacks. TJ Andrews (3 TFL) and Ashton Bezon (2 TFL) each led the way with six tackles, with Gage Chamberlain adding four tackles, with two coming for a loss.
“This was a great game to wrap up the end of the regular season with,” OAE head coach Tyler Winter said. “It was a solid performance on the scoreboard and we took a step in our team’s process. However, there is still plenty to take back to the film room and dive into as we prepare for our second season. On to sectionals.”
The Aggies finished with 558 yards of total offense to just 120 for Notre Dame.
Jaden Sherwood led the Irish defense with six tackles, Ryan Fitzpatrick had five stops and George Woodruff chipped in with 3.5 tackles. Woodruff also had 27 yards rushing on the day.
Batavia 54, Newark/Marion 6
The Blue Devils led 34-0 after the first quarter and capped their perfect regular season in style on Saturday at Van Detta Stadium.
Mehki Fortes rushed for 67 yards, Cam McClinic had 54 yards and a TD, Bronx Bucholtz finished with 45 yards on the ground and score and Aiden Anderson had a pair of rushing TDs in the easy win.
Ja’Vin McFollins had another spectacular day at QB as he went 10-of-11 for 141 yards and three touchdowns. Anderson (2-39), Carter McFollins (1-15) and Brendan Burgess (2-21) each caught a TD pass in the win.
Joe Marranco and Aavion Bethel each had four tackles to lead the defensive effort, while Vincent Arroyo and Parker Kleinbach chipped in with three stops. Those four combined for four tackles for a loss, while Arroyo had two interceptions.
LE ROY 21, LETCHWORTH/PERRY/WARSAW 0
The Oatkan Knights pitched their second shutout of the season and now have allowed just 21 points over the past four games as they will roll into the Class C playoffs.
After missing last week’s game, Tony Piazza led the way on both sides of the ball as he rushed for 101 yards and all three of Le Roy’s touchdowns, while he finished with 10 tackles defensively. Playing QB again, Drew Strollo was also solid as he ran for 95 yards and threw for another 32.
With LPW threatening to score early in the second half to cut into a 14-point deficit, Jack Tonzi recovered a fumble at the 18. Le Roy then went on a 13-play drive, chewing up seven minutes, culminating with Tony Piazza scoring from six yards out to make it 21-0.
The Oatkan Knights held LPW to just 131 total yards, including just 45 yards rushing on 24 carries.
Noah Leitten was outstanding on the defensive end for LPW with 14 total tackles, including three for a loss, while Chris Shearing had 7.5 stops and Bailey Schell added 5.5 tackles.
Attica 30, Bath-Haverling 0
The Blue Devils ran wild over the Rams as they finished the season on a roll.
Wyatt Kauffman paced the offense with 69 yards and two TDs on 15 carries, with Clayton Bezon adding 75 yards and a score on just seven carries and Sam Strzelec netting 56 yards and a score on just six carries in the win.
QB Braden Allein added six carries for 51 yards and a touchdown and Landyn Thomas had a five-yard TD reception in the win.
Attica scored 21 points in the fourth quarter to pull away.
Bezon led the defense with eight tackles and an interception, Robert Becker also had eight tackles and Thomas finished with seven tackles and a sack as the Blue Devils moved to 6-2.
Alexander 43, Cal-Mum/Byron-Bergen 0
Trenton Woods threw one of his two TD passes on the Trojans’ first drive of the night and the defense would do the rest as they finished the regular season undefeated with the easy win.
Woods finished the night 7-of-11 for 106 yards and the two scores, while the running game was balanced behind Tyler Marino, Rickey Townley and Kaden Lyons, as that trio combined to run for 166 yards. Marino had 71, Townley added 55 and Lyons chipped in with 40.
The Woods TD strike, to Christian Kissell, gave Alexander the lead for good while Townley and Lyons each added short touchdown runs in the first half for a 22-0 halftime lead.
Woods would then find Benny Merrill on a 12-yard scoring strike to start the second half, while Marino would score from two yards out and Mason Bump later added a three-yard score to round out the scoring.
Merrill finished with three catches for 57 yards and a touchdown and the Trojans have now outscored their opponents 282-29 on the season.
York/Pavilion 36, South Seneca 3
Carl Szczech had 170 yards rushing and a TD on 19 carries and Liam Ezard added 64 yards and a touchdown on 12 totes as the Knights cruised to the regular season-ending win.
Maddox Timothy finished with 8-of-17 through the air for 93 yards and two TDs, while Jake Pangrazio (2-25) and Joe Bauer (3-36) each had a rushing TD in the win.
Brennan Royce had another nice night to lead the defense with 10 tackles and a fumble recovery, while Tanner Hodges and Ryan Brady each had seven stops.
Maverick Coffey chipped in with six tackles, Ezard had four tackles, a sack and a forced fumble and Szczech returned an interception 61 yards for a score.
“I was really excited about the way our kids played tonight, it was a total team effort,” Y/P coach Kurt Schneider said. “Our kids played with a great focus tonight and we got some solid games from some different ball players. Carl Szczech and Liam Ezard both had nice games running the ball and the O-line continued its great play up front.
“While we are happy with the win, and will certainly enjoy it tonight, we know its back to business and the grind this Monday. Obviously great to be back playing in sectionals, happy for our seniors and we look forward to the challenges ahead.”
